Accessibility

We want Happy Hearts to be easy to read and use for everyone, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, or larger text.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the WCAG 2.1 AA standard, the widely used benchmark for accessible websites. Because many of the people we serve are older adults, we pay particular attention to large, readable text, high contrast between text and background, and clear, simple layouts that are easy to follow.

What we have done

Across the site we have:

  • Set body text at a comfortable size with generous spacing, and a typeface chosen for easy reading.
  • Checked color contrast so text stays readable, and made sure meaning never depends on color alone.
  • Made the site work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a “skip to main content” link.
  • Written descriptive text for images and clear labels for every form field.
  • Respected the “reduce motion” setting, so animations calm down if you prefer.

How to tell us something is hard to use

If any part of this site is hard to read or use, we want to hear about it so we can fix it. Please get in touch and tell us the page and what gave you trouble, and a real person will follow up.
